EuroFix Thermo Coat — Base Coat Render

Fibre-reinforced base coat that embeds the reinforcing mesh

ClassificationEN 998-1
CEEN 998-1

Description

EuroFix Thermo Coat is a flexible, fibre-reinforced cement render applied over insulation boards to embed the fibreglass mesh and form the tough, crack- and impact-resistant reinforcement layer of an ETICS façade. It levels the boards and provides a weatherproof base for the decorative finish render.

Fields of Application

  • Reinforcement base coat over EPS / XPS boards
  • Embedding the fibreglass reinforcing mesh
  • Levelling and protecting the insulation layer
  • Base for textured / decorative finish renders

Technical Properties

PropertyValue
Adhesion to EPS≥ 0.08 N/mm² (EPS failure)
Layer thickness3–5 mm (mesh embedded)
Application temperature+5°C to +30°C
Crack resistanceFibre-reinforced, flexible

Surface Preparation

  • Insulation boards must be firmly bonded, anchored, flush and dust-free.
  • Allow the board adhesive (Thermo Fix) to cure before coating.

Application Method

  1. Mix 25 kg with ≈ 5–5.5 L clean water to a smooth, workable paste.
  2. Trowel a first layer onto the boards and embed the mesh into the wet coat with 10 cm overlaps.
  3. Apply a thin second layer to fully cover the mesh and smooth flat.
  4. Allow 24–48 h to dry before the finish render.

Comparison vs. Ordinary Site Mix

CriterionOrdinary MixEuroFix
Crack resistance Cracks over boards Fibre-reinforced, flexible
Mesh embedding Poor, mesh exposed Full, even cover
Weather resistance Low High, system-tested

Consumption & Cost

The base coat is what keeps an insulated façade from cracking. A plain sand-cement render over polystyrene will craze and let water in within a season. EuroFix Thermo Coat's fibre reinforcement and flexibility hold the system together, protecting the insulation and the finish for the long term.

Packaging

25 kg bag

Storage & Shelf Life

Store in original sealed bags in a dry place, raised off the ground on wooden pallets. Shelf life 12 months from the production date printed on the packaging.

Safety

Contains cement which reacts alkaline with moisture. Wear protective gloves and goggles. On eye contact, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Keep out of reach of children.
