EuroFix Thermo Fix — Insulation Board Adhesive
Polymer-cement adhesive for bonding EPS, XPS and cork insulation boards
Description
EuroFix Thermo Fix is a polymer-modified, cement-based adhesive mortar for bonding expanded polystyrene (EPS), extruded polystyrene (XPS / penoplast), cork and mineral-wool insulation boards to façades. It is the first stage of an External Thermal Insulation Composite System (ETICS), giving high grab on both polystyrene and mineral substrates.
Fields of Application
- Bonding EPS / XPS / cork insulation boards to walls
- Concrete, brick, block and cement-render façades
- External thermal insulation (ETICS) systems
- New build and reconstruction / retrofit insulation
Technical Properties
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Adhesion to concrete | ≥ 0.25 N/mm² |
| Adhesion to EPS | ≥ 0.08 N/mm² (EPS failure) |
| Application temperature | +5°C to +30°C |
| Pot life | ≈ 2 hours |
| Reaction to fire | Class A1 |
Surface Preparation
- Substrate must be sound, clean, dry and free of dust, grease and loose particles.
- Prime highly absorbent or dusty surfaces with EuroFix Acrylic Primer.
Application Method
- Mix 25 kg with ≈ 5.5–6 L clean water to a lump-free paste; rest 5 min and re-stir.
- Apply by perimeter-and-dabs (dot-and-frame) or full notched-trowel bed on the board back.
- Press the board firmly onto the wall within the open time, checking level.
- After ≈ 24 h, fix mechanical anchors, then continue with EuroFix Thermo Coat.
Consumption
| Use | Rate |
|---|---|
| Bonding (dot-and-frame) | ≈ 4–6 kg/m² |
| Full-bed bonding | ≈ 6–8 kg/m² |
Comparison vs. Ordinary Site Mix
| Criterion | Ordinary Mix | EuroFix |
|---|---|---|
| Bond to polystyrene | Weak / unreliable | High, polymer-enhanced |
| Weather durability | Cracks, debonds | Flexible, weather-stable |
| System certification | None | EN 998-1 / ETAG 004 |
Consumption & Cost
An ordinary site-mixed mortar simply cannot hold polystyrene reliably — boards debond, the façade cracks and the insulation fails. EuroFix Thermo Fix is engineered for the polystyrene-to-wall bond, so a slightly higher bag price protects the entire thermal-insulation investment and the energy savings it delivers for years.
Packaging
25 kg bag
Storage & Shelf Life
Store in original sealed bags in a dry place, raised off the ground on wooden pallets. Shelf life 12 months from the production date printed on the packaging.
Safety
Contains cement which reacts alkaline with moisture. Wear protective gloves and goggles. On eye contact, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Keep out of reach of children.
