EuroFix Standard C1
Certified standard cementitious adhesive for ceramic and ordinary tiles on interior surfaces
Description
An economical, certified standard cementitious tile adhesive to EN 12004 class C1, designed to fix ordinary ceramic and faience tiles of medium absorption on interior walls and floors. It offers reduced slip (T), excellent workability and reliable bond, and represents the certified economical entry point as a replacement for hand-mixed sand-cement mortar in standard tiling.
Fields of Application
- Ordinary ceramic and faience tiles on interior walls
- Interior floor tiles of medium absorption
- Cementitious, plaster and block substrates in dry areas
- Standard residential and commercial tiling
- Certified replacement for hand-mixed cement mortar

Surface Preparation
- The substrate must be sound, clean and free of dust, oils and loose cement laitance.
- Level uneven surfaces and pre-fill large voids beforehand.
- Treat gypsum or highly absorbent surfaces with EuroFix Acrylic Primer.
- Dampen very dry substrates with clean water without leaving standing puddles.
Application Method
- Add the powder gradually to clean water and mix with a slow drill until a lump-free paste forms.
- Let the mix rest 5 minutes to mature, then re-stir before use.
- Spread with the flat side of the trowel, then comb with the notched side suited to the tile size.
- Place the tile and press with a sliding motion to ensure full contact within the open time.
- Set spacings with plastic spacers and remove excess adhesive before it cures.
Consumption
| Use | Rate |
|---|---|
| 6 mm notch — small/medium tiles | ≈ 2.5 kg/m² |
| 8 mm notch — medium tiles | ≈ 3.5 kg/m² |
| 10 mm notch — floor tiles | ≈ 4 kg/m² |
Comparison vs. Ordinary Site Mix
| Criterion | Ordinary Mix | EuroFix |
|---|---|---|
| Bond strength | Variable, uncontrolled mechanical bond | Certified ≥ 0.5 N/mm², consistent |
| Mixing consistency | Hand-guessed, varies batch to batch | Factory-controlled ratio |
| Thickness & waste | Thick bed 15–25 mm, high waste | Thin bed 3–6 mm, minimal waste |
| Back coverage | Air voids causing hollowing | Even coverage via notched trowel |
| Speed of work | Slow, needs high skill | Fast and easy to work |
| Service life | Early hollowing and loosening | Long-term stability |
Consumption & Cost
EuroFix C1 is the certified economical choice for ordinary ceramic work. Although the bag costs a little more than hand-mixed sand and cement, the bottom line is cheaper: the thin bed (3–6 mm) uses far less material than thick site mortar, the factory-controlled ratio removes batch-to-batch quality swings, and even back-coverage prevents the hollowing that later forces whole floors to be re-tiled. For ordinary ceramic where C2 flexibility is not needed, C1 delivers certified bond and lasting stability at a very competitive cost per square metre.
