What does European quality cost?
Before judging any price in the Syrian or Iraqi market, look at what Europe itself pays for classified materials. The figures below come from UK and European merchants and can be verified online by anyone — this is what European quality costs under import economics, before freight or duty is added.
| Product family | Price in the UK & Europe | At the shelf |
|---|---|---|
| Classified C2 tile adhesive | ≈ $700–900 / tonne wholesale | retail higher — a 20 kg branded bag at £20–28 |
| Gypsum finishing plaster | ≈ $500–650 / tonne | a 25 kg bag at £10–13 in the UK |
| Self-levelling compound | ≈ $700–1,400 / tonne | a 25 kg bag at £14–28 |
| Cementitious tanking / 2K waterproofing | ≈ $1,600–2,800 / tonne | a 20 kg pack at £25–45 |
| Concrete repair mortar (R3) | ≈ $1,200–2,500 / tonne | structural grades above — up to £95 a bag |
| Contact primer (Betokontakt type) | a 20 kg tub at €80–130 | actual EU retail prices |
| Penetrating acrylic primer | ≈ $2–4 / litre | 5–10 L packs at European merchants |
| Interior emulsion paint, mid-market | ≈ $4–8 / litre | premium ranges above |
What these figures mean for Syria and Iraq
A European import starts at these levels and then adds freight, duty and overland transport — markedly costlier since foreign trucks were barred from entering in February 2026. Imported European quality therefore reaches the Syrian shelf far above its home price.
Licensed local manufacture breaks that equation: the same classified formulations, under the parent company's standards and control, produced in-country — removing the entire import cost from the price. That is the EuroFix model: a British brand sold across Europe through major builders' merchants, building the first factory of a European company in Syria — in Hama, under the parent's licence.
Stated plainly: Syrian production has not started, and no Syrian price appears here — Syrian prices will be set and published in tiers, per product family, with the first production batch. The table above is your reference for what that will be worth when it happens.
